We are delighted to sell “Portwood asparagus” to a wide range of customers, including local retailers, caterers, local and national wholesale vegetable markets and supermarket packers, as well as direct to the general public via our own farm shop – no customer is too big or small! We pick and pack 7 days a week to ensure the highest levels of quality and freshness. We harvest from the first week in April until 21st June.
Our farm shop at Portwood Farm (NR17 1AH) will reopen on Thursday 6th April 2023. Please see ‘Our shop’ for more information.
Caterers/restaurants/local retailers
Call Emma or Andy on our Order-line 07901 642567 (8 am to 8 pm, 7 days a week) to discuss your requirements or place your order. We can provide whatever amount or grade of asparagus spears that you require (24 hours’ notice ideally). We regret that we are unable to deliver, although you are welcome to collect 7 days a week.
National Fruit and Vegetable Wholesale Markets
Portwood Asparagus is supplied in 250g bundles/two bands/wrap label and 12x 250g bundles per box. We can supply Grade 1 asparagus in various spear sizes: Choice, Select, Extra Select and Jumbo, as well as loose and Kitchen grade. All product comes in branded boxes with lids. New customers are invited to contact Andy on 07850 394479 to discuss your requirements. It is our practice to phone established customers daily between 6 am and 8 am (Mon-Sat) during the season to take orders (or you can, of course, call us any time). Orders for same day or next morning delivery must be received by 8 am. These will then be packed and put on transport at midday for delivery to you that night or early the following morning. Note: if you are buying, or wish to buy, from your local wholesale market, please speak to Andy who can advise you which stand can supply you with Portwood Asparagus on each market throughout the country.
